Fire Extinguisher Training:
This course primarily meets OSHA’s Fire Protection Standard 1910.157, but can apply to other
instances where fire extinguishers are required. Associates are trained in the general principals
and hazards of incipient stage fire fighting and the use of fire extinguishers. Approximately
2 hours in length. Suggested audience: employees authorized to use fire extinguishers in the
workplace. Frequency: annually.
Annual Training for Incipient Fire Training where the employer has provided portable fire extinguishers for employee use in theworkplace, the employer shall also provide an educational program to familiarize employees with the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with incipient stage fire fighting.
The employer shall provide the education required in paragraph (g)(1) of this section upon
initial employment and at least annually thereafter.
The employer shall provide employees who have been designated to use fire fighting
equipment as part of an emergency action plan with training in the use of the appropriate
